TOYS: Muppet Fan Creates LEGOs Based on Beloved Characters

Quinn Rollins would like to see Muppets made into LEGO playsets.  And honestly, who wouldn’t?  The Utah schoolteacher has spent the past year working on nearly 40 Muppet figures including Kermit, Miss Piggy, and (most importantly) The Swedish Chef.  BORK BORK BORK!

He sculpts and paints each figure and then adds them to his CUUSOO LEGO page.

Here’s a quote from the Salt Lake Tribune:

“Once I started, I felt like I needed to make every Muppet that ever existed,” Rollins said, noting his pastime has kind of become an obsessive compulsion.

CUUSOO, a Japanese word roughly translating into “wishing into existence,” allows anyone over the age of 13 who has dreams of a LEGO creation to post an idea for consideration. Any idea that gets 10,000 votes (voting is free) advances to the next round.

As of this writing, he is roughly 25% towards the goal of 10,000, and if you like his work, then please go and support this project.  PLEASE.  I must have a Swedish Chef LEGO.

Even the LEGO CUUSO team thinks it’s a great idea.  They wrote on the page:  “You’ve done a lot of work capturing the Muppets as LEGO minifigs. It would certainly be fun to see a LEGO set based on these classic, lovable characters.  Good luck on your journey to 10,000 supporters!”

And one of the suggested sets:

MUPPET THEATER $59.99
The largest set would be The Muppet Theater, which would include a stage area, and a balcony to the side. Exclusive minifigures like Statler and Waldorf (the two old guys from the balcony), Sam Eagle, Swedish Chef, Rowlf the Dog, Mahna-Mahna and the Snowths, and unique versions of Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy could be included. Ideally, it would be wonderful to have different scenes for sketches that could be put onto the stage: some brick-built arches that represent the beginning of The Muppet Show; a small kitchen for the Swedish Chef, a grand piano for Rowlf, etc. There could also be some backstage details included, without building the entire backstage as seen in The Muppet Show.

And there’s even Kermit with his banjo, all ready to sing about the Rainbow Connection and make me cry, which happens every time I hear that song.

I can’t believe how adorable these LEGOS are.  I want to own all of them.  And I can, if Quinn gets to 10,000 supporters!   The attention to detail is staggering.  Imagine re-enacting your favorite Muppet Show skit, whether it’s from the Mark Hamill episode, or the Swedish Chef Chocolate Moose one, or that time Beaker, Swedish Chef and Animal sing Danny Boy.

And if you’re interested in sharing your own LEGO project on the CUUSOO site, you’ll receive 1% of the royalties of any idea that goes into production.  Sure, it’s a small percentage, but when you think about how many toys LEGO sells, it’s probably a decent incentive to pursue a passion.

And at least one of Quinn’s passions is the Muppets.  You can follow him on Twitter (@JediKermit).   The Jedi seems to indicate another passion as well!

So go.  Vote, or create your own LEGO wonderland to share with the world.  If just one person believes in you . . .
