Brian Wood’s Star Wars #1 sells out, and Dark Horse is bringing more variants

The first issue of the new Star Wars series by Brian Wood flies off the shelves, and Dark Horse has more variants planned.

Having been out for only a few days, Star Wars #1 (read our review) has taken off for the stars: Bleeding Cool has reported that it sold out in less than 24 hours. Dark Horse Comics has announced that a second printing of Issue #1 is in the works, with editor Randy Stradley announcing that the cover for the reprint will be the Alex Ross artwork sans any text: title, price, etc.

Giving us even more variant covers to enjoy, Dark Horse announced today that issues 4 – 7 will have variant covers utilizing Alex Ross’ pencil sketches that became the covers for the first four issues. We’ve got the first one at the bottom of this article, but check out all four sketch pieces at Comic Book Resources.

Going to be around Orange County this weekend? There’s going to be a launch party for Star Wars #1 at Beach Ball Comics in Anaheim on Saturday, January 12. Writer Brian Wood, artist Carlos D’Anda and letterer Michael Heisler will be on hand to celebrate the release of this blockbuster comic.
