It’s Tris the Divergent versus Jeanine the Erudite in this new trailer for “Insurgent,” the sequel to “Divergent.”
The new trailer, revealed today on MTV, will air during the Super Bowl pregame show on Sunday.
In this brief glimpse of the upcoming film, we see visuals that seem to owe more to “The Matrix” than the first “Divergent” film. And the words flashing across the screen between each heavily computer-generated image? “She is the chosen one.” Very Matrix-y. But will she realize that there is no spoon?
Based on Veronica Roth’s popular “Divergent” book series, this second installment focuses on Tris (Shailene Woodley) trying to move forward after a devastating battle that took the lives of loved ones and forced her to kill a friend. Her life has turned upside down, and the factions are even more divided than ever. Her arch-nemesis Jeanine (Kate Winslet) is still at Erudite, lording over everyone in her high heels and tailored suits. Tris, with her newly cropped hair and less glamorous attire, is in sharp contrast to the polished Jeanine. But it won’t be fashion that wins this war. One must be fearless. Dauntless. Divergent.
