When Comic Books Visited Utah

People love fiction because it offers a version of the world that is better, or at least more exciting than our own. The characters are concrete and more often than not, good triumphs over evil. Real life doesn’t have the luxury of tying everything up in a bow, the bad guy sometimes wins, true love sometimes fails, and most days are less than memorable.

It’s for this reason that most of us get a thrill out of seeing our favorite fictional characters visit real life locations we’re familiar with. When The Doctor discovers a dalek in a private museum in your own backyard you get a momentary feeling of attachment to a universe that you love and it feels like, if only for a moment, that the real world is a little more magical for having those characters in it.

It is with that in mind that we present to you the most recent Salt Lake City History Minute outlining all of the times our favorite spandex clad heroes visited the Beehive state and brought a little four color magic with them.

From Spidey to Superman, from old friends to strangers, many of our favorite characters have at one time or another called Utah home.
