Sam Jackson Does ‘Boy Meets World’ Slam Poetry

I have many favorite things, as most of us do. Depending on the moment, if you were to ask me what my favorite thing is, I might tell you any of several things. One of those things is “Boy Meets World.” I watched it here and there as a child but rediscovered it a few years ago during a particularly hard time in my life, and fell in love with the show.

I don’t know if that’s what attracted me to the show, the wholesomeness of it, the feeling that ultimately people are there for each other and things will generally work out. The characters represented the best of middle class American life. It’s not a particularly common fandom, there are no super powers, no aliens, no time travel, just ordinary people. But I love it.

There aren’t many people I can share that experience with because there aren’t many people I know who really like that show, or who watched it more than casually when it was on. I do have one friend who shares my love of those characters, let’s call him Mike. Mike sent me a video a moment ago that feels like a special piece of entertainment made special just for me.

Samuel L. Jackson doing “Boy Meets World” slam poetry. There are references in here that only someone pretty familiar with the show will catch. I sincerely doubt that Jackson wrote the poem but his performance evokes images of him sitting down in the evening, drinking whatever Sam Jackson drinks, and watching the adventures of the youngest Matthews Boy.

If you happen to be someone who loves “Boy Meets World” like I do, or someone who just wants to see Sam Jackson do something kind of silly, poking fun at antiquated pop culture… check it out.
